Ivy League Learners Preschool believes in educating the whole child. Striving to instill a love of learning that is irresistible fun, while maintaining high academic standards. We incorporate the use of all 5 senses to instill deep retention and are committed to involving families and community. Encouraging students to be independent, life-long learners and leaders.
What Makes Us the Best?
There are many things that set us apart from the rest LONGER CLASS TIMES than most preschools around allows for more learning time (and longer breaks for parents to be productive). Having the director or assistant director present in EVERY class is a huge win. They will assist during the most vital parts of learning, ensuring the best teacher to student ratios as well as the highest standard of learning. Students have 1 to 1 study time every class and are working on individual goals during that "Empower Hour", allowing each student to excel at their own pace. Most students leave reading, writing and equating math well above grade level.
Literacy
Our biggest area of focus is phonics and phonemic awareness. Rhyming, blending, identifying letters, chunks, sight words etc. all set students up for success in reading fluency. Ultimately, if a student can read they can teach themselves anything.
Science
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is highly incorporated in our daily activities including working with magnetics, blocks, and other various erector sets. We do a weekly Science experiment. Many of which are hands on and enthralling for students.
Writing
Proper pencil grip is among the first focuses in school. This is followed by proper formation of letters using correct pathways (example: writing top to bottom). There are countless ways we work to improve fine motor skills. We take pride in teaching students more than just how to trace but to write and form letters and numbers independently.
Geography
Several of our weekly themes include exploring other cultures. Such as "Holidays around the World" in which we explore the various ways people celebrate holidays. We learn extensively about animals and their habitats and where those habitats may be located on a globe. This sparks a wonderful excitement for the beautiful world around us. We also talk about ways to preserve those beautiful habitats and care for our own communities as well.
Mathematics
Hands on manipulatives are the fastest way to help children understand the mathematic concepts we are teaching. Using themed counters or connection cubes to create patterns and to visualize the equations given is how we choose to approach a sometimes challenging subject for many students, keeping it fun and engaging.
Physical Education
We are blessed with a facility equipped with vast rooms and lots of movement-based props including high quality tumbling mats, scarfs, hula-hoops, color flags, cones and more. In addition to the gross motor skills taught in preschool, we offer additional extracurricular classes such as Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tumbling, Agility and intro to sports. Our partner, Rocky Mountain Dance, provides the highest quality dance training around with professional recitals and costuming so your dancer can progress with the studio through high school if they wish. Students will surely expend all their wiggles here.
